Head of Product Sales & Distribution for Alternative Solutions

The   Head   of   Product   Distribution   will   have   sole   responsibility   for   all   client-facing   activities   within HCOB IM’s new initiative to provide custom and commingled alternative asset solutions. The role will initially focus on Germany and is planned to expand to DACH and Northern Core Europe over time.Target   clients   are   exclusively   institutional   in   nature   with   a   focus   on   pensions   and   insurance companies.This position is newly established and the business will represent a greenfield expansion from HCOB IM’s existing operations which currently handle asset management requirements for a large, captive client. Therefore,   applicants   should   be   comfortable   working   on   a   small,   nimble,   and   growing   team.The ideal hire will join from an established asset manager and bring with them strong knowledge of alternative asset classes broadly – particularly private credit and private equity.

The individual will join a new growth initiative with an unparalleled team within Europe complete with a fully licensed, state-of-the-art fund platform. The new entity’s edge stems from its unique access to the Alternative Investments industry, deep and broad know-how in Alternatives and Capital Markets and a team with a proven track record and global investment experience. The firm is backed by one of the most profitable and the highly capitalized banks in Germany, which itself is also growing rapidly.

Responsibilities:

  • Product sales and distribution across entire suite of customized and commingled alternative asset management offerings
  • Develop and curate product concepts and marketing materials including project management of  relevant external vendors
  • Close collaboration with compliance/legal to interface with relevant regulatory bodies
  • Establish, maintain, and grow client/CRM database
  • Closely collaborate with fund’s portfolio managers and quantitative analysts to develop and communicate asset management solutions to clients including Strategic Asset Allocations, ALM studies
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge of the global fund universe across all strategies, styles, and asset classes
  • Work with external legal and compliance advisors to structure custom fund solutions for new and existing clients
  • Develop and maintain fund reporting
  • Assist portfolio management with production of quarterly market commentary
  • Develop and lead sales team

Background:

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in investor relations and/or product sales/fund distribution with an existing book of institutional clients
  • Experience working for medium- to large-sized asset manager
  • Academic background in Economics / Finance desirable; MBA or equivalent desirable
  • Strong commercial orientation with significant P&L responsibility
  • Solid knowledge of Asset-Liability Management concepts and risk management
  • Numerate (i.e., comfortable interpreting and discussing quantitative concepts such as VaR)
  • Comfortable with product development and project management
  • Lead and oversee investor reporting activity related to product distribution
  • CFA and/or CAIA designation(s) desirable
  • Fluency in English and German required
